Well, the canal match was a bit of a damp squib - but the next match ( at Datchet ) should provide a few more bites.

It's for the 'Wing Cup' so you may need a couple of chub, although it's been won with perch, roach and even dace in years past!

The draw is at 8 o'clock, on the river bank.

Is anybody catching much anywhere?

Is it just me or is the fishing hard everywhere. I’m struggling to get a bite wherever I fish, river, canal or lake it doesn’t seem to make any difference.

I’m just praying for some rain which hopefully will add some flow and colour to the water and perhaps then I’ll get a few bites.

Maybe this little bit of rain may help - it can't make it much worse!

At last a few fish. The canal at Byfleet may not have fished as well as I've known it but at least we all caught. How does Ken Joslin do it? He's good on the bread punch. Adrian's 1 lb 5 oz perch was impressive.

And Adrian's impression of a drowned rat wasn't bad, either......:)

Sorry, wrong again. I've just remembered that the drowned rat impression was at St Johns. Derek looked a bit soggy, too....

Canals are fishing a bit wierd this autumn. On one venue which is normally good on the punch I could only catch perch on pinkie - but the angler next to me was catching roach on the punch.
